Road to Rome invites painter apprentices in Denmark to share a short video showcasing the painting trade at its very best. The competition is for those who are passionate about fine craftsmanship and creativity – whether that involves a perfect finish, a special technique, or something else entirely.

 

Creative freedom with emphasis on fine craftsmanship

The competition is simple: first, create a 20–60-second video that showcases your craftsmanship at its best. There isn’t one ‘right’ style or formula to follow – quite the opposite. It can be creative, surprising and personal, as long as it remains true to the art of painting. The combination of craftsmanship and creativity is precisely what makes an entry hard to forget. The prize: Rome and Salon Roma 2026

Two winners will be selected to win a visit to Rome to attend the Salon Roma 2026. This year’s event also marks the 30th anniversary of the Salon. This international event brings together decorative painters from around the world to discuss techniques, traditions and sources of inspiration in spectacular surroundings. For a painter’s apprentice, this is a rare opportunity to gain insight into the professional world, observe craftsmanship up close and draw inspiration back to their everyday life at the apprenticeship.
